Three Reasons To Make A Spare Set Of Keys

Blog

It can be very frustrating to realize that you have locked your car keys inside the car. Having an extra set of car keys is not a bad idea. There are multiple reasons to have at least one extra set of car keys. This article is going to outline how and why you should consider getting an extra set of keys for you car.

A Locksmith

You may have just bought the car from a dealership or even a private owner, but there is a chance that somebody else has a key that will open your car. There are locksmiths that specialize in car keys and locks. It is a great idea to have a professional locksmith look at your key and lock and to re-key the doors. You will know for absolute certain that you are the only one that has a key to your vehicle. Obviously you can and should have the locksmith make you multiple copies of that key, and then you will be the one that decides who the extra key goes to or where the extra key goes.

Remote Start Keys

Yes, you can make your key glittery or have a specific look if you want to, and that is completely fine, but you can also have your new key turned into a key fob. Almost all cars that are sold now have a key fob that can unlock the door, but many of the older models do not. You can have a key made that will allow you to unlock the door remotely. In fact, you can have a key customized to remotely start you car. In many different models of vehicles, this feature is available, but it can also be installed in older-model cars. You do not need to have a brand-new car to enjoy this feature.

Broken Keys

Over time, a key can wear down and break. The actual metal blade of the key can break, or the chip inside some keys can simply stop working. You do not want to be stuck in a parking lot all because your key just broke. If you do not have a spare key, the only way to get your car to a shop is to have it towed. If you have a spare key, you will have the peace of mind knowing that you can get the car to a shop or to a locksmith.

Finding Better Locks, Keys, and Safes

Few things are more intimidating than realizing that your belongings are susceptible to being robbed. I realized this truth when we left town for a few weeks and came home to find a completely ransacked home. To prevent future problems, we started combing the market for a great safe that would protect our belongings, and we were able to find one that we felt really good about. After it was installed, we stocked it with all of our most important possessions and worked on putting our best things in it from then on. It was a lot of work, but it really paid off.
