Over time, a key can wear down and break. The actual metal blade of the key can break, or the chip inside some keys can simply stop working.You do not want to be stuck in a parking lot all because your key just broke. If you do not have a spare key, the only way to get your car to a shop is to have it towed. Few things are more intimidating than realizing that your belongings are susceptible to being robbed.
